Garden Design

How I work:

  • I will meet with yourself for an initial consultation to discuss your needs and desires for your outside space. I can talk through a variety of ideas that you might like or want to consider.

  • Although I will take lots of photos, it's likely that I will need to return once or twice more to check everything in real time! This will also provide you, if you'd like, the opportunity to discuss any thoughts or ideas further.

  • If an email or telephone conversation is necessary, then we can do that too.

  • It will take between 2 to 4 weeks for me to complete the design, depending on the time of year and the type of design it is.

What I will produce for you and £  exchange:

  • Hand drawn and painted plans of your space with extensive annotation of planting, structures, materials and uses.

  • A multi-page handmade information booklet filled with images showing the overall look and feel of the garden. It will also include comprehensive description of the plants and trees, including their size at maturity, aspect, flowering, care and use to wildlife.

  • £250* for the plans and booklet.

  • *If you have a very small garden/yard or a very large one, this price will be adjusted accordingly.

What I can create for you:

I create gardens that are directly inspired by the local countryside, and indeed will hopefully become a kind of extension of it!

The following are examples of features I can offer:

  • A more genuinely natural habitat for you to enjoy. Perhaps with the feel of a woodland glade or open meadow, for example.

  • Areas for socialising with friends and family that are not barren and soulless.

  • Areas for growing herbs and other edibles.

  • Encouraging wildlife.

  • Child friendly.

  • Tree planting (appropriate size for the garden of course!).

  • Native plants and plants for pollinators.

  • Using recycled materials for example reclaimed wood for trellising and raised beds.

  • Green waste recycling within the garden with compost bins and the 'chop and drop' system.

  • Installation of a small pond or container pond.

  • All year round interest - spring blossoms, summer flowers and autumn berries.

  • Low maintenance.

  • Sustainable, low impact, re-using materials and promoting healthy soils.
